Opening Image (1)
· Maury in disguise with fake ID buys a car at an auto auction.
· Fielding rents a garage on the edge of Los Angeles.
· At Maury’s country home, they test the enhanced air bags that destroy the dummies in the car seat.
· They set up a getaway route through the LA water tunnels in case they ever need to escape pursuers.
· They steal license plates and Fielding finds the information of the owner and creates fake ID to match.
· Fielding dons a disguise as an older man and they take the booby-trapped car to the garage Fielding rented.
· In the darkness, Fielding drives the car from the garage with Maury following in his vehicle, the two in radio communication.
· Fielding drives through different areas until he spots two Asian toughs at a liquor store. He asks them for directions and they agree to take him there if he’ll give them a ride.
· They assault him and throw him from the car, driving off.
· Maury picks him up and they follow the car.
· The men do a drive-by shooting at an outdoor house party and race off.
· Maury and Fielding catch up and force the car into a minor accident with a parked car.
· The air bags go off and the men are killed, the passenger having his head torn off.
· Fielding sets off the radio-controlled ignition of the fuel system, the car burning furiously as they leave the scene.
· Fielding and Maury have no regrets.
· The police are baffled by the crime scene.
· Fielding goes fishing in Mexico and finding puffer fish, gets his next killing device idea.
· He tells Maury of the puffer fish’s deadly tetrodotoxin, the most powerful non-protein nerve toxin known. It paralyzes so completely that victims who aren’t killed outright can appear dead for all intents and purposes.
Midpoint (40-49)
· The police have determined that Fielding is a prime suspect for their vigilante and interview him at his house.
· Fielding realizes that the police probably will identify him as the vigilante sooner or later. But he’s determined to take out Machete before he’s caught and makes arrangements for Maury to be kept out of the line of fire.
· Maury won’t back off, vowing to help until the end.
· They put a GPS tracking device on Machete’s car and follow him, identifying Chavy as the other murderer.
· The police zero in on Fielding as their culprit.
Break Into Three (Choosing Act Three) (78-96)
· Fielding and Maury steal Machete’s low-rider and take it to their garage to be booby-trapped.
· The police become convinced they’ve got their man in Dr. Fielding.
· Fielding and Maury test the remote control they’ve installed in Machete’s low-rider then leave it on the street where he’s bound to find it.
· Machete and Chavy recover their car.
· Fielding and Maury track their movements with the GPS they’ve put on Machete’s car.
· Machete and Chavy along with two girls, leave a party and head up into the hills of Griffith Park, stopping to stroll around the Griffith Observatory.
· Fielding pretends he’s just stumbled upon them, assaulting them then running away yelling he’s getting the police.
· Machete and Chavy abandon the two girls and pursue Fielding and Maury.
· Fielding takes control of their car and drives them off a cliff.
· Machete survives and flees into the Los Angeles Zoo, Fielding chasing him.
· They have a fight in the bear cage and Fielding shoots Machete in the knees so he can’t escape the attacking bear that kills him.
· Wounded, Fielding leaves.
· The police investigate the death of Machete in the bear cage and recover blood evidence they want to match to the DNA of Fielding, their suspect.
Finale (96-101)
· The police arrive at Fielding’s home with a warrant to bring him in to take his fingerprints and DNA.
· Fielding escapes.
· Mexican police find Fielding’s dead body in his car at the Mexican beach where he caught puffer fish, a letter for the Los Angeles homicide detective on his dashboard.
· In the Mexican morgue, the homicide detective from the opening scene is satisfied that their suspect has committed suicide to escape justice and departs.
· Maury pays the medical examiner the bribe to let him take away Fielding’s body without being autopsied.
· Maury is afraid Fielding really is dead, having taken too much of the tetrodotoxin.
Final Image (102)
· Alone on a remote beach, Maury apprehensively waits in his beach chair with the body of Fielding next to him stretched on a lounge.
· As Maury brushes a fly from Fielding’s face, his eyes open and he awakens.
· They laugh, having gotten away with their crimes.

- In a Mexican morgue, a Los Angeles homicide detective views the dead body of a man she’s been tracking.
- The Mexican medical examiner asks what the man did and the camera goes down through the dead man’s sightless pupil and…
- DR. JAMES “JIM” FIELDING with his wife ALISON are being feted by a medical corporation for which he’s developed a new and winning valve.
- A low-rider cruises the neon streets of Los Angeles and finally goes into a parking garage.
- Fielding and his wife are deeply in love and life is perfect.
- In the parking garage, Fielding and his wife are carjacked by two Hispanic men, MACHETE and CHAVY.
- Alison is raped as the carjackers drive them to the country where they’re both shot and dumped over a bridge.
- Fielding is wounded but still alive in deep anguish over his wife.
- The bandaged Fielding attends the burial of his wife, assisted by MAURY, his wife’s brother.
- Fielding is about to commit suicide in his home when Maury breaks in and stops him, taking his numb brother-in-law away with him.
- Sometime later, Fielding has recovered, staying with Maury in his desert home, thanking him for all he’s done.
- Fielding is distressed that the police have made no headway in finding the murderers and tells Maury he’s going to track them down and kill them.
- Maury tries to talk him out of it, but when Fielding is adamant, Maury agrees to help him.
- They’re having no luck finding the killers when they’re attacked by yet another carjacker.
- They kill him and drive off quickly covering their tracks, no intention of going to the police.
- Fielding tells Maury “They’re all Alison’s killers” and that he plans to combat it himself, telling Maury of his plan to build booby-trapped cars, let himself by carjacked, and “their prey bites them back.”

- With a new car, a man at a bus stop carjacks Fielding, saved from being stabbed only by the protective vest he’s wearing under his clothing.
- The carjacker is incapacitated by the spray of tetrodotoxin and leaves the car, stumbling around the corner where he passes out.
- Fielding thinks to clean up the car and reuse it, Maury trying to talk him out of it.
- As Fielding works on the car, a police car stops behind him.
- Fielding drives away in the car, the police pursuing him.
- He uses the getaway route through the LA water tunnels and Maury picks him up.
- The carjacker is being autopsied and the medical examiner comes unglued when he realizes the man he’s cutting up is still alive.
- The police begin to connect the dots on the weird series of car death incidents.
- Fielding devises his next plan for a car that will explode from a fuel-air bomb.
- Fielding is carjacked by three white bikers who are transporting stolen goods when their vehicle breaks down.
- The bikers toss out the fuel-air device, but Fielding and Maury follow them and when they stop at a bar to pick up an accomplice, Fielding puts the bomb back in the car.
- Fielding and Maury follow the bikers when they leave the bar and explode the car inside a garage.
- Fielding is asked to come to police headquarters where he’s shown a photo lineup, asked to see if he recognizes anyone as one of the men who killed his wife.
- He sees Machete but tells the police he doesn’t recognize any of the men.
- Street surveillance video of the biker carjacking lead the police to realize they’re dealing with a vigilante in the car incidents and begin researching those who might have a motive.
- Using the booking number on Machete’s police photo in the lineup, Fielding finds Machete’s identity and he and Maury scout his house.
